Finding a Keynote speaker can be a hassle; finding one that can share an authentic and engaging message in a way that will leave a lasting impression is even more of a challenge. Thankfully, I’ve been preparing for you, and it brings me joy to share what I’ve learned with others.

Upon arriving at NC State as a Freshman, my basketball coach insisted that I enroll in a public speaking class in order to prepare for interviews and speaking engagements that I would encounter as an NCAA Division I athlete. To be perfectly honest, I was terrified and wanted nothing to do with the media or speaking in front of a crowd. To my surprise, I fell in love with the course and the opportunity it gave me to learn how to share my heart, how to be a voice for those who were unable to do the same.

Over the next 4 years, I found myself enrolling in every communications class available to me at NC State. Furthermore, Coach Yow and my Athletes in Action/ FCA staff sent me to various schools and community events to speak on behalf of our programs, to use my platform as a student-athlete to encourage and inspire younger student athletes, and to share my testimony and my experiences in overcoming the many obstacles and hardships I faced in life and more specifically, my time at NC State as well.

After graduating, I continued to use my voice as a means to encourage and inspire others. With messages of hope, personal discoveries and lessons learned, I have been blessed with the opportunity to speak to the following (but not limited to) teams and organizations:

  • North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC)
    • Athletic Department
    • Women’s Basketball
  • Davidson College (Davidson, NC)
    • Women’s Basketball

Through the platform of HUG2, I speak to middle school, high school, and college students about the importance of health and wellness: body, mind, and spirit on the broadest spectrum.

However, I also speak more specifically to the essential component of soul care when it comes to a transformed life for high school and college audiences. I believe we were all created to thrive, and learning a cadence to help navigate the stress and ambiguities of life as we know it can radically change the way we experience this world.

Additionally, I speak to athletic programs, teams, and coaches regarding how to connect and contribute within the team in order to achieve success both on and off the playing field, court, etc. I provide a framework to encourage each individual to recognize their role within the organization, equipping the athlete, coach, and staff to exercise their gifts and abilities to the fullest. The results of such training continue to speak for themselves even after our time together is over.

I also conduct workshops for teams and small groups in order to interactively walk through the principles of HUG2 on a more personalized scale. These include individualized, custom training sessions that take place over the course of a day or weekend as determined by the client and are a great way to build a lasting foundation for future team building activities (apart from those already included in the training).
